What Habo Is

Habo is a payment facilitation platform that enables anonymous, person-to-person financial gifts. Habo is not a charity, crowdfunding platform, or financial institution. Gifts sent through Habo are personal gifts between individuals and are not tax-deductible.

How It Works

  1. Donorssend a gift by entering the recipient's mobile number, an amount, a reason, and an optional message. No account is required. Donors can choose to stay anonymous or reveal their name.
  2. Funds are captured immediately via Stripe or bank transfer and held until the recipient responds.
  3. Recipients are notified by SMS that they have a gift waiting. The SMS directs them to visit habo.help (no links in the message).
  4. Recipients visit habo.help, verify their mobile number via OTP, and can accept (funds are paid out to their chosen method) or decline (gift amount is refunded to the donor).

Anonymity

By default, gifts are anonymous and the donor's identity is never revealed to the recipient. This is enforced at an architectural level. However, donors may choose to reveal their name when sending a gift. When revealed, only the chosen display name is shown — never email, phone, or payment details. Habo will not disclose any additional donor information even if requested by the recipient.

Fees

A transaction processing fee is added to each gift to cover payment processing costs. The fee varies by payment method: 3% for bank transfers, 5% for card and wallet payments. The fee is paid by the donor and the recipient receives the full gift amount. The transaction fee is clearly displayed before payment and is non-refundable, as processing costs are incurred regardless of whether the recipient accepts or declines.

Refunds

  • If a recipient declinesa gift, the gift amount is refunded to the donor's original payment method. The transaction processing fee is non-refundable as this cost is incurred at the time of payment regardless of outcome.
  • If a gift remains unclaimed, Habo administrators may issue a refund of the gift amount at their discretion.
  • Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear on the donor's statement.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Habo for:

  • Illegal activity of any kind.
  • Harassment, threats, or abuse.
  • Money laundering, fraud, or any form of financial crime.
  • Sending offensive, discriminatory, or harmful content in gift reasons or messages.
  • Automated or bot-driven gift creation.

Habo reserves the right to freeze accounts, withhold funds, and report suspicious activity to relevant authorities.

Recipient Accounts

Recipients verify their mobile number via a one-time SMS code to access their gifts. No email or password is required. Payout details are collected and processed securely by PayID, Stripe Connect, or PayPal. Habo never sees or stores bank account details or payment credentials.

Liability

Habo facilitates payments between individuals. We are not responsible for disputes between donors and recipients. We do not guarantee that recipients will accept gifts or that funds will be used for the stated reason.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. By using Habo, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and/or PayPal's User Agreement.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use of Habo after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
