About habo

We're the stamp on your care package.

Someone you know is having a hard week. You want to help with the rent, the groceries, the school excursion. But offering money to someone you care about is awkward, and being offered it can be worse. Habo them. You send it, they receive it, and they never find out it was you, unless you want them to.

Why anonymous

Most people who need a hand will not ask for one, and most people who want to give one do not know how to offer without making it strange. Anonymity removes both problems at once. There is nothing to refuse politely and nothing to repay.

It is money rather than a voucher because the person receiving it knows what they need. A supermarket card decides for them.

What it costs

$5, or 5% of the amount, whichever is greater.

The recipient always receives the full amount. The fee is paid by the sender on top of the gift, and it never comes out of what arrives.

Moving money is never free. There is always a cost, and it is more complicated when it has to arrive without a name on it. We take care of all of that. Your postie, if you will. And like postage, the fee is spent whether or not the letter is opened, so it is not refunded if a gift is declined or goes unclaimed, and a larger parcel costs a little more to send.

The limits, and why they exist

  • Gifts can be any amount up to $500.
  • A sender can give up to $2,000 in any 30 days.
  • Australia only, to and from accounts held in the person's own name.

Small, capped and domestic is a deliberate design. It keeps habo useful for the thing it is for.
